AAUA National Assembly 2008
Higher Education Leadership:
Practical Strategies for a Challenging Future
June 26-28, 2008 ¦ Salt Lake City, Utah
Whether it is privatization challenging our public colleges and universities,
or the demands of the marketplace challenging our notions of the value
of a liberal arts education; whether it is the changing nature of the
professoriate, or changing student characteristics; whether it is the
demands of policy-makers to expand access while maintaining quality and
ensuring student success, or a myriad of other new and emerging challenges,
the higher education landscape is changing. We plan a focused conversation
to consider pragmatic approaches to addressing these and other new expectations
for and demands on American colleges and universities.
The assembly will be located at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center Hotel,
a AAA-4 Diamond Award venue. Situated in the middle of Salt Lake City’s
entertainment district, the hotel is surrounded by over 60 restaurants,
bars, and nightclubs. In addition to the extraordinary selection of nightlife
and dining opportunities the hotel is within walking distance of Jazz
Capital Theatre, The Gateway, Hogle Zoo, Historic Temple Square, and TRAX
Light Rail Stations. For guests, the hotel offers in-house restaurants
and a Starbucks Coffee bar, indoor heated pool and whirlpool, full health
and fitness center, a full-service day spa, and 24-hour staff business
center. A special rate of $139 per night has been arranged.
In order to ensure conditions that facilitate interaction among
assembly attendees, participation is limited to 75 registrants.
