The Communiqué

June 2024 Edition

Hoke’s Notes

I hope you are enjoying your summer and getting some vacation time with friends and family.

It’s been a very busy spring, and the new year, which starts on July 1st, will see new board members and officers leading AAUA. The American Association of University Administrators elected as Board Chairperson Greg Paveza and Board Chair-Elect Dr. Sandra Affenito. They, along with the Executive Committee consisting of Tom Botzman, Treasurer; Lynn Burks, Chair of the Professional Development Committee; Sister Ann Heath, Chair of Publications Committee; Jerry Neuner, Chair of the Awards Committee; and Joe Sallusito, Chair of the Membership Committee. They meet on a monthly basis and help set the direction of the organization.

I want to thank Bill Hill of Wayne State University, who has served as Chair of the Board for the past two years. He has been a joy to work with and, with his guidance, helped AAUA have signifiant growth. He now moves to the Immediate Past-Chairperson position.

Chris Cavanaugh has been an officer for many years. Her term has ended, and she will serve as the new Chair of the newly formed Advisory Council. The Council will consist of up to 15 individuals, including former AAUA Past Board chairs, AAUA members, and financial supporters.

Also, thank you to retiring board members Eve Billings, Christopher Blake, Judson Edwards, Pedro Martinez, and Tye Minckler. Damon Andrew and Eric Kirkland, whose board terms have expired, are joining the Advisory Council.

If you have an interest in serving on the Advisory Council or a board committee such as Professional Development,Membership, or Finance, we do have openings; please contact me at dean.hoke@aaua.org.
