Member Insurance Program

Along with over 60 other similar professional organizations, AAUA makes available a variety of low-cost professional and personal insurance options through its membership in the Trust for Insuring Educators (TIE). Since its establishment in the 1970s, TIE insurance programs have been administered by Forrest T. Jones & Company, a Kansas City, Missouri-based firm that currently provides money-saving insurance program and protection advice to more than one million members within 65 educational associations. AAUA maintains its membership in TIE solely as a service to its members, with over three-quarters of the AAUA membership making use of the insurance benefits; AAUA receives no commissions or other financial reimbursements or benefits from TIE. Categories of plans and services available to AAUA members through the Trust for Insuring Educators are listed below:

Professional Liability Insurance

Educators Professional Liability Plan

Pays all defense costs in addition to the liability limit one chooses. Includes job protection benefits if the insured is subject to an administrative action such as reassignment or termination.

Private Practice Professional Liability Plan

For self-employed educators, or those providing consultation/services through partnerships, limited liability companies, or corporations.

Life Insurance

Available plans include: Group Term Life; Group Accidental Death & Dismemberment; and 10-Year Group Term Life.

Auto and Home Insurance

GEICO provides discounted rates to AAUA members – Auto, Motorcycle & Boat Insurance; Homeowners, Renters & Condo Insurance; UmbreLla Liability Insurance.

Health Insurance

Includes options for purchasing Individual & Group Health Insurance; Medicare Supplement insurance; Cancer Protection Plan; Educators Dental Plan; SpecialtyCare Connect; Long Term Care.
